We envision an end to Death Alley, and a just, sustainable future for all residents of the river parishes.
These are our demands.
1/ NO new petrochemical projects in the river parishes.
Death Alley is full. Our communities are sick and dying, and cannot afford more industrial pollution. We must begin the transition to a just and equitable economy along the river, and that starts by stopping new and expanded petrochemical facilities along the Mississippi.
2/ Ban industrial emissions within 5 miles of public spaces
3/ Either curb production at Denka to stay under the EPA-recommended limit for chloroprene emissions or shut Denka down
4/ SHUT DOWN MOSAIC AND REMOVE THE TOXIC RADIOACTIVE GYPSUM WASTE MATERIAL THAT IS POSING A PUBLIC HEALTH RISK
5/ COVER HEALTHCARE COSTS INCURRED BY RESIDENTS DUE TO POLLUTION EXPOSURE
6/ END THE INDUSTRIAL TAX EXEMPTION PROGRAM
